What is GPS tracking system?

A GPS tracking system is one that uses the global positioning system to determine the precise location of a vehicle, person, or other asset to which it is attached and to record the position of the asset at regular intervals. The recorded location data can be stored within the tracking unit, or it may be transmitted to a central location data base, or internet-connected computer, using GPRS, a radio or a satellite modem embedded in the unit. This allows the asset's location to be displayed against a map backdrop either in real-time or when analyzing the track later, using customized software.

What is AVL?

AVL stands for Automatic Vehicle Location which is a term used for naming the system able to track vehicles, vessels, and mobile assets such as trailers, containers, and equipment, plot their coordinates into one or more computer generated maps and be able to interact with them in several ways.

A normal AVL system would basically:
-Receive GPS satellite signals.
-Calculate your position, speed, heading and altitude.
-Communicate with the base station using different cellular technologies.
-Use an intelligent engine to decide when to report data and how.
-Receive the precise time and date.
-Log data track geographic location.

What is GPS?

GPS (Global Positioning System) is a constellation of 27 earth orbiting satellites (24 operating and 3 spares) developed by the US military, initially as a military navigation system that has since opened up to everybody else to use. A GPS receiver locates 4 or more of these satellites and uses the information to deduce its own location. TechTel21’s Car Tracking system uses this location technology to accurately track vehicles.

What is GPRS?

GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is the world’s wireless data service available with almost every GSM mobile network. It enables us to access the internet, our email, video streaming and multimedia messages from our mobile phones. TechTel21’s Car Tracking system uses this technology to communicate location data back to our application servers.

How often do I get reports?

Reports can be generated as often as you like, either on an ad hoc basis or you can simply set up the parameters in the easy to use report wizard to produce scheduled reports to be sent as SMS or to a PC.

How will I know if my car exceeds a certain speed or violates my geo-fencing?
